Werner Amann's photographs have a casual elegance to them. This is the photography that I'm so interested in. No props, no sets, just noting what you see. The lighting he captures is so beautiful, and sometimes slightly nuanced. His photography is perfect research for our upcoming 'Daylight' project. Amann tends to shoot midday and sunset. He uses a flash at night for the most part.

Studio Lighting, Fall 2011

This first assignment is poop. I wouldn't think it was so bad if I wasn't ridiculously swamped with moving stuff. Since I have been, I chose to shoot Andrew in an empty room in the new house surrounded/wearing boxes. The light source is a floodlight (wattage unknown at this very moment) directly in front of the model and surroundings. I shot 35mm 200 ISO Fujifilm color with 250 shutter speed on a tripod. The shadows cast by the boxes is really the most intriguing part of these images. I am not very satisfied, and I plan to fully redeem myself in the next upcoming projects.
